It’s not every day you get to cradle a bald eagle!
Wildlife Intern Rosemary and CVAR director Sara Penhallegon

Our wildlife intern Rosemary and CVAR’s director Sara Penhallegon were transported by boat, thanks to a local resident, on a recent bald eagle rescue. The eagle was severely dehydrated and emaciated when Sara waded through shallow waters to pull it out of some deep brush. The eagle received IV fluids and medical care, but unfortunately treatments were unable to make an impact and the eagle had to be euthanized due to its highly deteriorated condition. In this case we believe it was most likely due to lead poisoning. While this wasn’t the happy ending we hoped for, we were grateful to get the call and to offer assistance to an animal in distress.
